Biography:

Dr. Kato received her MD degree from Nagoya City University, in 1994 and PhD from Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan, in 2003. She completed her research fellowship at Cardiac Transplant Program, Stanford University in 1999. She worked as a Chief Cardiologist, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and Organ Transplantation at National Cardiovascular Center, Japan, from 2005 to 2010. She joined Columbia University Medical Center as a Research Scientist/Assistant Professor at Center for Advanced Cardiac Care, Department of Medicine from 2010 to 2013. Since Nov. 2013, she assume an Associate Professor, Heart Center, Juntendo University School of Medicine. Her research interests include heart failure/transplant/mechanical circulatory support/echocardiograms/cardiac pathology, and she published over 80 peer-reviewed publications in this field.
